Top: Enclosures mounted to a 100 meter tower which were moved up and down the tower using an elevator system (in-situ instruments installed inside enclosures). A typical filter housing and it's pnuematic placement in a sampler; filters are loaded into the housing and ambient air is drawn through cyclones to remove large particles, denuders to remove interfering gases, and through the housing (and filters); particles and adsorbent gases in the ambient air are collected on the filters. After collection, the filters are brought to the AQRL and prepared as needed for analysis. ![]() Source: URG, Chapel Hill NC. |
